I forgot to mention (or rather, I forgot completely), that
there's another problem that only affects the Linux version
of LC.  Apparently (I haven't investigated deeply), the
"View Block List" dialog on the Linux version causes this
problem.

A sort-of work-around is to use "lc -w" when you start up
LC, then don't use "View -> Block List".  There may be some
other problems related to the graphical interface on Linux
as well.  Another work-around is to do the interactive
work on an IRIX system (or a Cray?), and only use Linux for
simulation runs (i.e., "lc -b").  Or wait until 2.10d shows
up :-)
