New

Clear to create a new model. An empty model is created and given a default name. Any previously loaded models are set aside and may be recalled with the Model menu.

Open...

Open a model file. The File Open dialog is displayed.

Save

The current model is saved to the file from which it was read. The save options are taken from the File Save As dialog.

Save As...

Save model to a new file. The File Save As dialog is displayed.

Model Info...

Display accounting and statistical information about the model.

Wizard...

Analyze the current model and display a report of any inconsistancies, conflicting, or missing data.

Quit

Quit LC. If any unsaved changes have been made, a warning dialog is displayed before the program is terminated.

3.1 FILE OPEN DIALOG

The File Open dialog opens a new model file. Binary model format (*.lc) and portable text export format (*.lcx) files can be read, as well as backup (*.bak), and crash recovery (*.save) files.

Filter

This field is a mask to select a set of files in the current directory. The default mask selects only files which end with ".lc*".

Directories

This is a list of directories within the current directory. Select any directory in the list to be used as the current directory.

Files

This is a list of files in the current directory that match the filter. Select any file to open it.

Selection

This field displays the currently selected file. You may enter any file name into this field to select it.

3.2 FILE SAVE AS DIALOG

The Save As dialog writes the current model in a file. If the file already exists, then the old file name is changed to a ".bak" file before the new file is written. Any old ".bak" file is lost.

Output File

This is the name of the output file. The default suffix ".lc" is provided for model file format output, and ".lcx" for export file format output.

Model Format
Export Format

Select the file output format. Model format is a machine-dependent binary file format, and export format is a portable text file format.

Save Window Placements

Save the current window positions and sizes to the output file. If the file is later given as a command line parameter, the saved windows will be restored.

3.2.1 OVERWRITE FILE WARNING

If the file given in the File Save As dialog already exists, this warning is displayed. Select Overwrite to save the current model over the existing file, or Cancel to not save the model.

3.3 FILE MODEL INFORMATION DIALOG

The Model Information dialog displays accounting and statistical information about the current model.

3.3.1 Accounting Information Frame

Filename

Name of the input file.

Created By
Creation Time

The time and the name of the user who first saved the model.

Last Saved By
Last Saved

The time and the name of the user who last saved the model.

Model Minimum
Model Maximum
Model Center
Model Size

The coordinates describing the bounding box of the model, in user units.

Unsaved Changes

A toggle indicating if the model has been modified since it was last saved.

3.3.2 Statistics Frame

Total Blocks
Calculations
Materials
Multiports
Plane Waves
Pulses
Far Field Sweeps

The total of the number of definitions of each type.

Geometry
Loads
Ports
Probes
Sources
Submesh

The total of the number of each type of block. For geometry blocks, this is further broken down by shape.

Cubes
Cylinders
Spheres

0-D
1-D
2-D
3-D

The total of blocks that are points (0-D), lines (1-D), planes (2-D), and volumes (3-D). These statistics refer to the block bounding box, not to the parameters such as probe form.

3.4 EDIT MODEL NOTES DIALOG

Notes describing the model or simulation results can be entered using this dialog. When the model is saved to a file, the notes are saved with it.

3.5 MODEL CHECK DIALOG

3.5.1 Wizard Report

This report is generated by examining the blocks of the current model. Each block and definition is checked for common problems which may cause the model to behave in an undesired or unusual manner.

Enable Wizard warnings

If the automatic model checks have been disabled (see below), this will enable them again.

3.5.2 Wizard Messages

Checks are also performed as the model is created and changed. If any problems are found, then a warning message is displayed.

Disable Wizard warnings

If this toggle is set, then further automatic checking is disabled. Model reports can still be generated, regardless of if the automatic checking is disabled.

3.6 FILE QUIT DIALOG

If the program is being terminated, but changes to a model have not been saved, then the Quit Warning dialog is displayed. Choose Save to save the model to its default file, Discard to exit the program without saving the changes, or Cancel to return to the program without terminating.
